A structure of colossal dimensions is being loaded these days at the Valliniello docks. It is the upper part of a reactor manufactured at Idesa´s workshops. It will be installed in a Dutch oil refinery. The metal structure measures 13x13x18.5 meters and weighs 450 tons. In order to transport it from the workshops of the Parque Empresarial Principado de Asturias (PEPA) to the right bank of the river, it was necessary to cut off traffic on the road to the lighthouse.
The 105-meter long vessel "Meri" will transport the reactor from Avilés to the port of Schiedam, in the province of South Holland. The part is destined for repair: a part of the reactor damaged by use will be removed and replaced by the new one.
